News Report
The number of films that participated in the two branches of the competition (fiction and documentary) exceeded 80 films by Saudi directors. Most of them were young and all of them were produced in 2017 . More in the next report|:
The short films competition was organized by King Fahd Cultural Riyadh Center, with more than 80 films from 2017 production , and in the presence of the general supervisor of the cultural and media Affairs in the Ministry of Culture and Information Dr. Nasser Al Hejailan and the director of King Fahd cultural Center, Riyadh, Mr Mohammed Saif and a number of officials and film lovers.
Awards were announced and it included best fictional film ، the best documentary film ، the best actor, the best actress ، and the best screenplay ، Certificates of appreciation and thanks were presented to a number of distinguished participants . Special thanks were given to the film “The Dark Side of the Mind” for its artistic value and its contribution to the fight against terrorism in a beautiful visual language.
Effat University was also honored for its distinctive support for the film industry. As well as Close Media for its support in producing 4 films in the competition,
and confirmed that that awards were given to the best participants .
The Minister of Culture and Information played a vital role to accomplish this event , thanks to Dr. Awad Al-Awad، and King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh، Thanks was also given to Mr Khaled Al-Baz . We wish the participants in this competition to continue supporting and preserving the skill and talent they possess. so that there will be a real cinema industry in the Kingdom.

The event was held on 05 October 2017. His Excellency the Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Awad bin Saleh Al-Awad, launched today the activities of the Saudi Cultural Week in Russia, which is being held in the Russian capital, Moscow, to accompany the visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – to the Russian Federation. His Excellency the Russian Minister of Culture, Vladimir Mednisky, and the Saudi media delegation accompanying the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques during his visit to Russia, and a large audience of Russian people, attended the event.
Dr Al-Awad delivered a speech on this occasion in which he welcomed the Russian Minister of Culture and the attendees, and said: I am pleased to welcome you in this ceremony of the Saudi Cultural Week in Russia, which is held on the occasion of the visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, – may God preserve him – to United Russia.
His Excellency added that this historic visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God preserve him, is the first visit of a Saudi king to the Russian Federation, as it was preceded by many official visits. In 1932, King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, who was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited the country, and in 2003 King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz visited the Russian Federation as the Crown Prince, and in 2006 King Salman visited Russia when he was Prince of Riyadh, and in 2007 Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz visited it, who was the Crown Prince .
Because this historic visit is the first visit of a Saudi king to the Russian Federation, it was treated as a state visit of the highest level, and we thank Russia Federal for the hospitality.
His Excellency stressed that this visit would help to move the countries to an important stage of their relations, Russia is a pivotal country not only in the Middle East but globally، This visit will strengthen the relations in all political, economic, commercial, agricultural, military, educational and cultural fields.
Dr. Al-Awad indicated that a number of agreements were signed in a number of fields, such as energy, investment, environment, agricultural cooperation, military and educational sectors, plus a media office opening in Moscow.
His Excellency stated that the relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Russian Federation are characterized by positive interaction, continuous development and support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and said: This care from the our leadership confirms the depth and historical ties between the two nations. and cooperation In many fields. one of which is the cultural angle
Dr Al-Awad considered culture as one of the essential elements of supporting partnerships between countries، spreading human knowledge and exchanging experiences، which gives dialogue and cultural interaction a prominent role to develop a positive influence between people.
His Excellency pointed out that ” The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 “has established a new start for Saudi culture, which is one of the engines of civilized human development towards broader horizons. The vision aims to develop the culture and media sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to create a robust cultural industry in the fields of arts, literature, theatre and cinema, and to make culture an influential force for human communication.” It is supported by the media aspects by achieving creative media content that gives the ambitious national plans an international competitive advantage

A cultural event that was hosted at King Fahd Cultural Center in the capital, Riyadh.
It was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Dr. Adel bin Zaid Al-Tarifi. and in the presence of the Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom, Mr. Nur Yihiro Okuda. The General Supervisor of the Ministry’s Agency for International Cultural Relations, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ahmari, welcomed the Kingdom’s guests from the Empire of Japan to their second country, indicating that the establishment of the Japanese Cultural Week in the Kingdom comes within the framework of the “Saudi-Japanese Joint Vision 2030” .
Dr. Al-Ahmari said, in a press statement, The holding of the activities of the Japanese Cultural Week carries several advantages in order to achieve the common vision that cooperation was signed in implementing during the visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God bless him, to Japan, “. The event presented a number of various programs, including a cultural exhibition, a presentation of Japanese folklore, and calligraphy, as well as a presentation of Japanese companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A number of Japanese films were shown in the event, including animation and drama, as well as a performance by the Japanese orchestra.
