On September 26, 2018, Mr Nayef bin Bandar Al-Sudairy, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Canada, held a ceremony to celebrate the 87th Saudi National Day, with the participation of a delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information.
Their visit to Canada comes to launch the activities of the Saudi Cultural Week under the slogan “Cultural Diversity … A Bright Present” The event was held at the Lanes Down Exhibition in Ottawa. The celebration coincides with Ottawa’s celebration marking the 150th anniversary of its establishment as the Confederate Capital of Canada. The Mayor of Ottawa, Mr. Watson delivered a speech in which he thanked Ambassador Al-Sudairy for holding this event, which confirms the depth of the Saudi-Canadian relations and that it is an opportunity to learn more about the Kingdom’s culture.
Mr Watson wished continued progress and prosperity under the wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz. During the ceremony, prominent Canadian figures and prominent Saudi figures in the Canadian society were honored.
The activities of the cultural week included folk troupe shows, interactive arts , childrens’ shows, the presentation of a dancing exhibition in addition to the presentation of short films, the establishment of a number of exhibitions, including the Fine Arts Gallery, the Gallery of Traditional Costumes, the Handicraft Exhibition, the Children’s Corner, and the provision of Arab hospitality.
